The broadcasting and monitoring of an individual's daily life in the Truman Show, released in 1998, was an unusual experience that the general public could not participate in. However, as of 2023, many people's lives are being broadcast by themselves through the spread of smartphones with cameras and the popularization of social networks. So, I built the device containing the idea that we are being watched by others. Insta360 on top of my head recorded everything around me 360 degrees, including me, and GoPro on my chest recorded those I faced. Two GoPros on both arms, moved by my will, captured the others I wanted to record. This video work starts with a computer-generated voice saying, “My name is Sungchul. Please take a photo with me.”
